Alan Mark Paukman designs, teaches, photographs, and writes about architecture, focusing on how built environments impact our senses and well-being. A licensed architect from New York City, his work emphasizes honest materials, precise geometry, and physical experience. A passionate traveler, he has documented architectural masterpieces in 50 countries.
Alan's career spans his solo practice, roles at Foster + Partners, and retail design for Calvin Klein and Khaite. He also co-founded Nikolai Rose, a jewelry studio, and Swelter House, creating saunas for private residences. Over 30 publications have recognized his work, including Architectural Digest, Vogue, and Vanity Fair. He holds degrees from Columbia University (M.Arch) and NYU's Gallatin School (BA). Alan has taught at NYIT and served as a guest critic at Columbia, Cornell, and Tulane.
Currently, he explores the intersection of architecture and mental health, advocating for spaces that foster presence in an increasingly digital world.
