Casa Cero

Miami, Florida

Role: Design Architect

From the street, the house reads as a composition of monolithic blocks. A horizontal roof forms a heavy brow, supported by four rectilinear columns. Between them, a recessed opening leads to a pair of double doors. You step into shadow, then emerge into light, with a clear view across the courtyard to the lake.

The house is U-shaped. The central courtyard is open to the elements, framed by deep roof overhangs that lift gently upward. At the far edge, a pool reflects the sky and merges with the lake beyond.

The main living space runs along a central axis and opens fully into the courtyard. Glass walls slide away. Inside and outside become one continuous plane. No steps. No thresholds. Movement is uninterrupted.

One side of the house holds the primary suite. The other holds guest rooms and support spaces. Between them is shared space and symmetry. Circulation follows geometry. The plan feels balanced and composed.

Materials are minimal and grounded. Glass, plaster, water, sky. Light is shaped. Edges are clean. Every element is intentional.

Casa Cero is formal but open, monumental but calm. A house built for presence, composed with restraint.
